Top 5: 2015 Ford Escape

The 2015 Ford Escape is currently the talk of the town. The design is sleek, the drive is smooth yet powerful and the technology is super savvy. Read on to read our top five favorites on one of our favorite new vehicles. 1.Seriously, the technology is on point.  Just to name a few things– Lane-Keep Assist automatically adjusts steering input to make sure you stay in your lane, parallel and perpendicular parking systems control your steering wheel to park the vehicle for you (all you have to do is control the brakes and the accelerator pedal) and another system will help you leave your parking space. But that’s not all. Also offered is adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitoring system, heated seats, a 180-degree camera offering a view of the front of the vehicle, and even a cleaning system for this camera which makes sure it’s always ready for you to use. 2. It’s got power. Unlike years previous, the engine can now transmit power to all four wheels and has the option of coming with a towing package which will allow it to haul up to 3,500 …

Customer Highlights

What’s a better mother daughter bonding experience than buying a brand new Ford? That’s exactly what mom Leana and daughter Phoebe did at Truck City Ford. We talked to Phoebe, and absolutely loved the time she spent with us at our Truck City Ford location. “Our experience was great and Ken was awesome.” she said. A lovely new Escape for two lovely ladies. Wendy is a third time Ford-buyer from our Leif Johnson Central location. Her last car was totaled and the damage was severe, but miraculously, Wendy came out of the accident unscathed. This week she was back at our dealership, safe and joking that she must be a “new car enthusiast.” “Third one’s a charm!” she said with a smile. Our dealership just wouldn’t be quite the same without the amazing ladies who buy from us, bringing laughter and personality every time they walk through our doors!

Earning By Learning

Leif Johnson Ford has been a part of the Earning by Learning program at a local Austin elementary school for twenty years now! For those wondering what exactly Earning by Learning entails, we would love to take a minute to explain. Created by a small group of Dallas citizens who recognized a need for reading in their community, this program teaches kids to work hard and dream big. Earning by Learning is a program that inspires young kids to learn to love reading. By earning a dollar for each book they read, these kiddos are finding a joy for the books and getting rewarded for their efforts. Each school year, Leif Johnson Ford volunteers make their way to their local elementary school to listen to the children read, and hear all about the books they’ve read the previous week. Not only is it an exciting journey for these kids, it is also a fun and inspiring way for us at Leif Johnson Ford to give back to our community. Helping the younger generation love to read, one book at …

Meet Virginia

Meet Virginia. No, not the popular 90’s Train song. Virginia Wirtz of Riata Ford. She’s been working with us for six years now and we couldn’t be happier to have her on our team. Luckily, she really likes working with us too! Though Virginia is having her consecutive six year work anniversary, if you count the two year break she took in between, she’s actually worked with us for nearly thirteen years. She tells us she loves her job as a billing clerk and that loving what she does “Makes the day go by faster.I learn something new every day.” She also tells us she enjoys the people she works with and that there’s “never a dull moment” at Riata Ford. (Something we all love about working here!) When Miss Virginia isn’t at work, she enjoys spending time with her grandkids, boy/girl eight-year old twins and a twelve year old girl. “They’re my life” she gushes. She has one child of her own, telling us that after growing up with nine brothers and sisters, she wanted a smaller …

Back-to-school Carpooling Tips

Summer vacation has come to a close (Can you believe it?) and your kiddos are officially back in school. Has this week been a little more hectic than you would have liked? Is the constant picking up and dropping off throwing your schedule for a loop? It’s not too late to organize a carpooling system with other parents! Leif Johnson Ford is here to give you a few friendly tips on how to get the ball (or the car) rolling on organizing the carpool of your dreams. Trust your fellow carpoolers The goal is to get your kids to school both on time and in one piece. Considering the importance of safety and punctuality, make sure you know and trust the parents you’ll be sharing car pool duties with. Ask the parents of your children’s friends; Let them know you’re putting together a carpool. The smaller your list of carpool candidates, the more likely your little ones will be in good hands. If you have a few parents in mind, consider a meet-up with them to determine whether …

Customer Highlight: The Levines

Father and son duo Steve and Alex Levine are absolutely loving their new Ford King Ranch. In fact, there wasn’t anything they didn’t love about their experience with us at Leif Johnson Ford. Steve, enthusiastic and talkative, chats with us about what a great time he had buying his new truck. The last time he bought a truck was back in 2004, and he laughs when he realizes that two of the team members he’s talking with (The Social Media Rep and the Sync Tech)own  job titles that probably weren’t even around back then. (Times may change, but after over 50 years of business, you can bet the excellent service at Leif Johnson Ford sure doesn’t!)  When asked further about his time spent with us, he lets us know that his sync tech Peter is funny enough to be a stand up comedian, except for the fact that he was momentarily  sitting down. Joking aside, Steve says that his salesman Leo was pretty awesome too. “I gave him three chances to beat other dealership prices and he was …

iPhone tips from Sync Tech Peter

As technology gets more and more advanced, its sometimes hard not to start head-scratching with confusion. But we want to make life just a little bit easier for you. Leif Johnson Ford has helpful and friendly sync techs like Peter to walk you through all things Ford and tech related. Here’s a few simple steps on how to make sure you’re getting the very best use out of your iPhone and Ford synchronization. 1. Don’t use emoji in your contacts. Voice command pathways are used to correspond with each contact, thus emojis are not recognized and this confuses the system. 2. Avoid plugging phone into USB port in your car. Your phone will charge much faster plugged into 12 volt charger with an adapter.  Furthermore, when plugged into a USB port, the two computers start talking to one another, and, as Peter puts it, Ford and Microsoft don’t work well together “when they’re holding hands.” 3. For all smart phones: When plugged into the car, use the car, not the phone when making, ending and receiving calls. 4. Clear out …

Customer Highlight: Meet JoAnn

Meet JoAnn Wolf– Proud owner of this snazzy buy, recently purchased at Riata Ford in Manor, Texas. This isn’t her first purchase from Riata, but rather her third in TEN years. She’s a longtime fan of our dealership, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have her as a loyal customer. But this dedicated buyer loves more than just the Fords she buys from us. She boasts that she has not only four grandkids (ranging in ages from 15-34) but also four great grandkids, and we can tell that they keep her busy in the very best way possible. And as if she hasn’t got her hands full enough, JoAnn bought this spacious vehicle from us for a very special reason. A dog lover and owner of three border terriers, JoAnn proudly tells us that that she will be taking her pups to and from dog shows in her new Ford. We at Leif Johnson are so grateful to have so many unique and fun customers with so many interesting stories and from so many different …

Employee Highlights: Ajay Malani

Salesmen Ajay is an employee of our Riata Ford location and a resident of Austin, though this isn’t quite his hometown. Ajay was not only born, but also raised in India–Not exactly a neighbor to Texas or our Leif Johnson Ford dealerships. Still, he made his way to Austin with his family when he was fourteen years old and has loved it enough to never move anywhere else since. He also loves his job; More than half of his time spent in Austin has also been spent with us at Riata! Ajay has been with us at Riata Ford for nearly six years, and states that his favorite part about working with us are all of his customers. The feelings are definitely reciprocated, as Ajay is a favorite to many of the Ford-buyers who walk through our doors. Whenever he gets the chance, he does make visits back to India, and tells us he misses the cooking and the people when back in Texas. But he loves the Austin life too, and spends his spare time playing …
