Vehicle Flushing Tips

This week we took a few minutes to talk to our service tech expert Barry Beard at our Truck City Ford location. He’s the best at quick but handy tips, and this week he gave our viewers some advice on vehicle flushing! This pro makes working under the hood look like a breeze. Take a look, y’all! What to flush: Transmission Flush – Recommended every 30,000 miles. This is to keep the fluid clean and to keep all the detergents/oil. 2.    Brake Fluid- Brake fluid breaks down every two years, and/or 30,000 miles. It begins to naturally take on water. Brake fluid does attract moisture, so it’s very important to make sure you’re keeping it clean. 3. Coolant– Coolant breaks down, especially when you have a vehicle that tows often. You’ll also want to flush your coolant system roughly every 30,000 miles. There are some higher-grade coolants that will claim to work for over 100k miles, but this is not recommended by Ford. 4. Fuel injection service– You can’t see it as easily as the rest, but it is there! This …

Keith Anders has been a service advisor with Leif Johnson Ford for two years now. We are so thankful to have him on our service squad. In honor of his time spent with us, we wanted to take a moment to ask him a few questions. Read on to get to know the one and only (okay maybe not one and only, but our one and only!) Mr. Anders a little better! What is your favorite thing about working at Leif? : My favorite thing is the other employees. They make my day go by a little faster and put a smile on my face. Two Years at Leif Johnson Ford

Yesterday I took a shotgun ride in probably the coolest car ever. The 2016 Ford Mustang, California Special Edition. The top was down, the wind was blowing in my hair and Taylor Swift was on the radio. The Mustang makes you feel like summer could go on forever. I’m Christina, the social media representative at Leif Johnson Ford. This means I am the blog writer, the social media updater, employee and customer interviewer and etcetera. It’s a fun gig, but it’s especially fun because of where I work and who I get to work with. I’ve made great friends and taken some great rides. Cruising around in F-150s, Mustangs, Fiestas and every Ford in between has taught me that these rides really are Built Ford Tough. Ford truly focuses on safety, reliability and innovation like no other car company. Did you know they’re working on an Apple watch to pair with and help control your car? Or that they’re developing a spider screen to keep the creepy crawlies out of your vehicle? Or that the 2015 F-150 …

Customer Highlight: Phillip White

Phillip White has just purchased a 2015 Ford F-150, his fourth truck buy from Leif Johnson Ford. It’s not hard to see how satisfied he is with his new beauty. “The design is completely different than the 2014, it’s laid out better, it’s wider. I love the design.”He also loves his dealership of choice. When asked about his experiences at Leif Johnson Ford, he tells us, “They’ve always treated me right. Always. They’ve always worked with me.” Phillip is always a pleasure to work with, and we are honored to have had the chance to get to know him over the years.  He’s been buying from us since 2003, and we couldn’t be happier to have him as one of our longtime, valued customers. Mr. White is a retired veteran, and tells us he has had the chance to travel everywhere. In his spare time, he absolutely loves to bowl. And drive around in that shiny new F-150, of course.

He was recently recognized by Ford as a Level 4 Achiever for Employee Excellence, and we couldn’t be more proud of him for this achievement. When asked what his favorite vehicle is, he said it was definitely the 2015 Ford F-150. We’d love to share with you Wesley’s F-150 Top 5. (Complete with commentary!) 1. Twin panel moonroof. It’s huge—like a swimming pool! 2.  Adaptive cruise control. Takes stress out of driving and paces your driving. Let’s you just chill out while you drive! 3. Power deployable running boards. Happy Earth Day! #BuiltFordGreen

Happy Earth Day! Fun Facts: In recent years, Ford has made it a priority to reduce worldwide greenhouse emissions. 25 bottles of water are used in the carpeting of each 2015 Ford Escape. H.I. Heinz and Ford are in the process of attempting to turn tomato skins into floor mats. Ford uses old nylon carpeting to make resin for engine cooling fans and engine covers. Ford Escape and Focus are more than 80 percent recyclable. Paint fumes are turned into fuel at Michigan Truck Plant. Ford Dearborn’s Truck Plant has the World’s Largest Living Roof, coming in at 10.4 acres of a drought resistant perennial groundcover called sedum. Sedum helps absorb up to 4 million gallons of water annually and is part of a storm water management system installed at Rouge. This roof also produces oxygen and provides natural overhead insulation for the final assembly building, which reduces energy costs. Ford is the first two time winner of EPA’S Energy Star Award. Since 2013, the Ford Motor Company has reduced greenhouse emissions by 9% Between 2011 …

Employee Highlight: Colin Moore

If you keep up with our social media pages or the local news, you may remember Colin from the time he helped pull two people from a vehicle right before it caught on fire. We wanted to take the time to showcase this brave young man and his life both inside and outside of Leif Johnson Ford. Colin has worked with us for over three years, and started out as a manager porter before becoming one of our friendly sync techs. He tells us his absolute favorite part about working for us is all of the people. “The customers are what makes my day worth it and fly by. I like to build rapport with people and remember our conversations.” During his off-time, Colin has a variety of hobbies. He loves everything from wakeboarding to mountain biking to gardening to traveling the world. Back in 2014, he had a blast traveling to Copenhagen, Denmark for the first time. To add to an already impressive list, he owns his own house and an acre and half of land to …
