Happy Earth Day! Fun Facts: In recent years, Ford has made it a priority to reduce worldwide greenhouse emissions. 25 bottles of water are used in the carpeting of each 2015 Ford Escape. H.I. Heinz and Ford are in the process of attempting to turn tomato skins into floor mats. Ford uses old nylon carpeting to make resin for engine cooling fans and engine covers. Ford Escape and Focus are more than 80 percent recyclable. Paint fumes are turned into fuel at Michigan Truck Plant. Ford Dearborn’s Truck Plant has the World’s Largest Living Roof, coming in at 10.4 acres of a drought resistant perennial groundcover called sedum. Sedum helps absorb up to 4 million gallons of water annually and is part of a storm water management system installed at Rouge. This roof also produces oxygen and provides natural overhead insulation for the final assembly building, which reduces energy costs. Ford is the first two time winner of EPA’S Energy Star Award. If you keep up with our social media pages or the local news, you may remember Colin from the time he helped pull two people from a vehicle right before it caught on fire. We wanted to take the time to showcase this brave young man and his life both inside and outside of Leif Johnson Ford. Colin has worked with us for over three years, and started out as a manager porter before becoming one of our friendly sync techs. He tells us his absolute favorite part about working for us is all of the people. “The customers are what makes my day worth it and fly by. I like to build rapport with people and remember our conversations.” During his off-time, Colin has a variety of hobbies. He loves everything from wakeboarding to mountain biking to gardening to traveling the world. Back in 2014, he had a blast traveling to Copenhagen, Denmark for the first time. The 2015 Ford Escape is currently the talk of the town. The design is sleek, the drive is smooth yet powerful and the technology is super savvy. Read on to read our top five favorites on one of our favorite new vehicles. 1.Seriously, the technology is on point.  Just to name a few things– Lane-Keep Assist automatically adjusts steering input to make sure you stay in your lane, parallel and perpendicular parking systems control your steering wheel to park the vehicle for you (all you have to do is control the brakes and the accelerator pedal) and another system will help you leave your parking space. But that’s not all. Also offered is adaptive cruise control, a blind spot monitoring system, heated seats, a 180-degree camera offering a view of the front of the vehicle, and even a cleaning system for this camera which makes sure it’s always ready for you to use. 2. What’s a better mother daughter bonding experience than buying a brand new Ford? That’s exactly what mom Leana and daughter Phoebe did at Truck City Ford. We talked to Phoebe, and absolutely loved the time she spent with us at our Truck City Ford location. “Our experience was great and Ken was awesome.” she said. A lovely new Escape for two lovely ladies. Wendy is a third time Ford-buyer from our Leif Johnson Central location. Her last car was totaled and the damage was severe, but miraculously, Wendy came out of the accident unscathed. This week she was back at our dealership, safe and joking that she must be a “new car enthusiast.” “Third one’s a charm!” she said with a smile. Our dealership just wouldn’t be quite the same without the amazing ladies who buy from us, bringing laughter and personality every time they walk through our doors!

At Leif Johnson Ford, we truly value both our customers and our employees. Take Larry Kirbo, for instance. He is celebrating thirty-five years of working with us in the Parts Department. It is always a joy to walk into the Parts Department. There are many long term employees who are always smiling, joking and laughing with one another, and it is clear to see how much they value their fellow team members. It is no surprise then that Larry tells us his favorite part about working with us is “the people” and the “comradery” built around our team at Leif Johnson Ford. We love learning about our employees too, and loved hearing that in his spare time, Larry is a talented guitar player. He will even be playing for SXSW this year! Another day, another happy customer story. Michael and Megan couldn’t be more delighted with their brand new 2015 F-150s from Leif Johnson Ford. They bought their his and hers vehicles last week, appropriately purchased on the day of L-O-V-E. Talk about a perfect Valentine’s day gift! This isn’t Megan’s first time cruising around with Leif Johnson Ford. When asked about her experience, she couldn’t say enough good things about our dealership. “I had a wonderful experience. But this is exactly what Doug and Doris Henderson are in the process of doing. They are “right in the middle” of retirement, and even though Doris half-jokes that they are “homeless and jobless”,their future is actually looking pretty darn awesome. These two are getting ready to forget about all of that work stuff and move to the beaches of Corpus Christi. They also needed vehicles more suitable for their new adventures. That’s where we come in. A new Ford Edge and F-150 later, this sweet couple is ready to start a new chapter of their lives. And it looks like it’s going to be full of relaxation, sand, sun and plenty of smooth sailing. (Or driving.) Leif Johnson Ford couldn’t be happier to help the Hendersons retire in style.

Big news for 2015 and beyond, y’all. Ford is bringing more than 12 new performance vehicles from now and until 2020! Included in this lineup are the all-new Ford GT (shown for the first time at the 2015 North American International Auto Show) new Shelby GT350R Mustang and new F-150 Raptor. Coming sooner than later will be the 2015 Shelby GT350 Mustang,featuring Ford’s first-ever production V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft, also offers an incredible 500-horsepower naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8. Also included is a new frontend that uses Ford Racing innovations to better the downforce in the car/cooling. Next comes the 2017 Raptor. Following in the F-150s steps, it will weigh about 500 pounds less but be much more powerful than Raptors of previous years. It is claiming the title of the “toughest, smartest, most capable” truck on the road and will be yours to buy in fall 2016. The new GT will be manufactured in late 2016. It will feature the next-generation twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that will provide over 600 horsepower. Celebrating their work anniversaries is a just a small way of saying thank you for all of they do for our Ford family. Meet Paul . He has worked with us for an amazing forty years, and is an asset to our Parts team. When asked what his favorite part about working at Leif is, he definitely has more than one thing to say. “All of the comradery, all of the friends. They’re all good people. I meet a lot of customers, and enjoy the public.” And when asked what he’s learned in his forty years with us he shares this, ” (I’ve learned) how to get along with people really well, how to treat people nicely.
