Early Valentine’s At Leif Johnson Ford

Ismael and Yolanda Nunez are in love. With each other, and with their brand new F-150 purchased at Leif Johnson Ford. They are also committed to the good things in life. They have been married for 43 years and have been choosing our dealership for 15 years. They bought their first Ford from us back in 2000! (Is it just me or it a little scary that this was fifteen years ago?!) The couple chuckled over the fact that not once but twice they have come in for a simple oil change and have left with a new vehicle. When asked what their favorite thing was about Leif, they complimented their sales lady Sonya for never being pushy and always taking time to explain details. As for our dealership, they love the fact that we “always work with you.”

Yolanda gushed that their newest buy was an early Valentine’s Day present from her hubby. This adorable duo was clearly smitten with each other, their new F-150 and their dealership of choice—A beautiful couple and a wonderful Valentine’s Day indeed!

The 2015 F-150 has gotten a lot of deserving hype for being made from aluminum, delivering a more fuel-efficient driving experience and still being built Ford tough as ever.

These are reasons us Leif Johnson Forders love the F-150 too, but this is just the start of the list. I took a test drive with our knowledgeable salesman Wesley, and he definitely won this 25-year-old-not-usually-truck-loving-chick over to the beauty of this truck.

A few examples for you Ford (but maybe not truck) lovers:

-Heated AND massaging front seats. You’ll actually look forward to traffic.

– If you’re known for running into inanimate objects (like me) the F-150’s rearview camera system is a lifesaver (or a curb-saver, or a tree-saver….)

– Hate parallel parking as much as I do? Now you have a truck to do it for you. This bad boy parallel parks itself, y’all.

– Charge your phone, laptop, GoPro and even medical devices (Though Wesley doesn’t recommend this last one) while you drive with the F150’s 12 volt accessory outlet.

– Hitching a trailer isn’t usually a fun gig. With the Ford F-150 Dynamic Hitch Assist, I think I could even hitch a trailer. It’s that easy.

-The seatbelts in the back are inflatable. This help keep your family and friends safe, while also giving backseat drivers a fun rollercoaster-esque feel during the drive.

– The drive is so smooth, you’ll almost forget you’re driving. (No worries, you’ll remember as soon as you start thinking about how madly in love you are with your truck) Turn on some nature sounds and your massaging seat, and driving home will almost feel like your own personal spa day.

I could go on all day, but maybe it’s time you stop daydreaming about owning your own F-150 and come out for your own test drive today!

Ford Performance Lineup

Big news for 2015 and beyond, y’all. Ford is bringing more than 12 new performance vehicles from now and until 2020!

Included in this lineup are the all-new Ford GT (shown for the first time at the 2015 North American International Auto Show) new Shelby GT350R Mustang and new F-150 Raptor.

Coming sooner than later will be the 2015 Shelby GT350 Mustang,featuring Ford’s first-ever production V8 engine with a flat-plane crankshaft, also offers an incredible 500-horsepower naturally aspirated 5.2-liter V8. Also included is a new frontend that uses Ford Racing innovations to better the downforce in the car/cooling.

Next comes the 2017 Raptor. Following in the F-150s steps, it will weigh about 500 pounds less but be much more powerful than Raptors of previous years. It is claiming the title of the “toughest, smartest, most capable” truck on the road and will be yours to buy in fall 2016.

The new GT will be manufactured in late 2016. It will feature the next-generation twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 engine that will provide over 600 horsepower. Also part of the package is impressive acceleration, better than ever efficiency, advanced active aerodynamics and the brand new, easier to use Sync system.

Says Raj Nair, Ford group vice president, Global Product Development: “Our new global Ford Performance team ties together racing, performance vehicles and parts. It will allow us to more quickly introduce products and accessories that meet the needs of customers around the world on-road and on the track…

Ford still races for the same reasons Henry Ford did in 1901 – to prove out our products and technologies against the very best in the world. The Ford Performance team will continue to pursue performance innovation, ensuring we can deliver even more coveted performance.”

And we will continue to be on the edge of our seats (and updating all of you, of course) waiting for all of the Ford perfection that comes next.

Ice Cream Party At Leif Johnson Ford

We like to celebrate our employees and all they do for us here at Leif Johnson Ford.

Glenn Curby’s 20th consecutive year anniversary (Though if we’re getting technical he has been with us on and off since 1987) was no exception. He told us he simply wanted ice cream, but we’re fans of the “Go big or Go home” mentality. Instead of just ice cream, we set Glenn and the rest of our team up with an entire ice cream party, courtesy the Austin famous Amy’s ice cream.

Mid-ice cream party, we took Glenn aside to ask him a couple of questions about his many years spent with us. When asked what his favorite thing about working at Leif is, he quickly responded, “The people I work with. It’s a family type atmosphere and we all work together as a team to help our customers.” Glenn continued telling stories about his decades spent with us with a smile on his face. It was clear that he enjoys being a part of our team almost as much as we enjoy having him be a part of it.

It is people like Mister Curby who make our team such an exceptional, and we think he deserves a bounty of frozen sweets. So a giant ice cream party it is!

Responsible Parenting Award Ceremony

Every year, we at Leif Johnson Ford have the honor of partnering up with Child Inc. to join in on the Responsible Parenting Awards. What are the Responsible Parenting Awards, you might ask?

“The Responsible Parenting Responsible Relationship Awards is a project of Child Inc. in which members of the local community including businesses, faith-based, civic and neighbourhood groups, recognize and reward parents for their commitment to responsible parenting and responsible relationships. Parents are recognized for their effort in raising their children responsibly, taking an active role in their child’s early education, and working towards strengthening their relationships.” (Child Inc.)

For the past thirteen years, Leif Johnson Ford has refurbished vehicles and gifted them to deserving families at the Responsible Parenting Award ceremony. It’s ceremony is full of laughter, love and happy tears and is an absolute joy to be part of.Santa even pays a visit to the kiddos, bringing them extra goodies along with their new vehicle. Our team couldn’t have been more excited to participate in another year of this joy at yesterday’s ceremony.

At Leif Johnson, we are so happy to have such hardworking and loyal team members, many who have been with us for decades. Celebrating their work anniversaries is a just a small way of saying thank you for all of they do for our Ford family.

Meet Paul . He has worked with us for an amazing forty years, and is an asset to our Parts team. When asked what his favorite part about working at Leif is, he definitely has more than one thing to say. “All of the comradery, all of the friends. They’re all good people. I meet a lot of customers, and enjoy the public.” And when asked what he’s learned in his forty years with us he shares this, ” (I’ve learned) how to get along with people really well, how to treat people nicely. All changes for the better.” We couldn’t be more pleased to hear that he appreciates us in the same way that we appreciate him!

Meet Gerard, Gerry for short. He has worked on our team for nearly as long as Paul, at an incredibly thirty-seven years. He too has nothing but nice things to say about working on our team. “I’ve learned a lot about life, about people. I’ve learned a lot about patience.” He also tells us his favorite thing about working with us is his fellow employees, and that he has a lot of fun being a part of the Part’s team practical jokes. At this, the team starts laughing, sharing stories about phones trapped in Jello and various other pranks they’ve pulled on one another. They work hard, but they can play hard too. It is clear, looking at the laughter and smiles that fill this room, that this is a team that loves, respects and enjoys one another.

We are so proud to call this team our own, and so thankful to have such a committed, fun-loving staff. They are what make Leif Johnson Ford the strong, friendly and long-withstanding Austin dealership that it is.

Responsible Parenting Key Ceremony 2014

Each year, Leif Johnson Ford proudly teams up with Child Inc. to give deserving families newly refurbished vehicles. Parents that stand out for raising their children responsibly and for actively taking part in their child’s education are sought out and brought to the Child Inc. key ceremony. On the day they believe they’re coming in for yet another interview, they are surprised with flowers, a giant cardboard key and the knowledge that they will soon own their very own reliable vehicle. On November 19th of this year, the Leif Johnson Ford team was ecstatic to once again be a part of countless happy tears as these families signed their vehicle paperwork. Next month our Fords will be given to these families, and we absolutely can’t wait to be a part of that special day!

Our team loves taking part in such a life-changing program, and we are so happy to make the holiday season an even brighter one for these shining stars.

“Drive the Future Of Tough” Ford F-150 Tour

Have you recently dreamed of sugarplums and driving the new 2015 F-150? Well, we’re here to make your dreams come true. Well, the F-150 part anyway. You’ll have to find your own sugarplums.

That’s right, y’all. It’s the official Ford tour, and it’s coming to Austin. More specifically, it’s coming to Leif Johnson Ford. On December 11th 2014, 5:30-8:30 pm at our Central location, you will have the chance to check out the 2015 F-150 before its official release date. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and not one that you’re going to want to miss.

As if all of this isn’t great enough, we’re also going to provide you with free drinks and snacks. Food, refreshments AND the newest F-150? It doesn’t get much better than that!

Think of it as an early Christmas present from our Leif Johnson Ford family, to you.

Eduardo’s 13 Years at Leif Johnson

Eduardo Luna has worked with us at Leif Johnson Ford for thirteen years now. When asked what his favorite thing about working with us is, he happily lists a handful of things. “Everybody gets along really well. It’s a family sort of environment” he tells us.

He also says that he loves everything from his coworkers to his bosses, and that, put simply “Everybody is cool.” He goes on to say that every year he feels more and more comfortable as part of our team, but at the same time he is always striving to “keep improving.” This is the type of attitude we love and look for at Leif Johnson Ford, and just part of what makes our team such a great one.

Mr. Luna has been doing everything from tinting to graphics for us for more than a decade, and we absolutely love having him as part of our crew. Our Leif Johnson Ford family definitely wouldn’t be the same without him.

Earning By Learning

Leif Johnson Ford has been a part of the Earning by Learning program at a local Austin elementary school for twenty years now! For those wondering what exactly Earning by Learning entails, we would love to take a minute to explain. Created by a small group of Dallas citizens who recognized a need for reading in their community, this program teaches kids to work hard and dream big. Earning by Learning is a program that inspires young kids to learn to love reading. By earning a dollar for each book they read, these kiddos are finding a joy for the books and getting rewarded for their efforts. Each school year, Leif Johnson Ford volunteers make their way to their local elementary school to listen to the children read, and hear all about the books they’ve read the previous week. Not only is it an exciting journey for these kids, it is also a fun and inspiring way for us at Leif Johnson Ford to give back to our community. Helping the younger generation love to read, one book at a time!
