Bryan Beltran Live at Riata Ford

Bryan Beltran-of the Manor Mustang Marching Band– is one very talented fellow. A player of multiple instruments, his long-term dream has been to attend the Guardian Drum and Bugle Corps this summer. Not knowing if he would be able to come up with the funds, Beltran began sending out letters to local businesses requesting donations. When Riata Ford heard about Bryan, we knew we had to help. Starting with a $500 donation and matching every donation he received thereafter, we have helped him reach his goal of $1,500 and couldn’t be happier to announce that Beltran will be fulfilling his dream of attending the Corps this summer. This goal couldn’t have been completed without some fun and festivities, of course! Last Wednesday, Riata Ford had a blast hosting an amazing performance by Bryan Beltran himself. Check out these pictures (and video!) from the event: Bryan’s brother showed up to surprise Bryan and perform alongside him Wednesday night; An incredible duo! Bryan’s dad worked with General Sales Manager James Figurell at Leif Johnson back in 1998! Small world!

Bryan Beltran of the Manor Marching Band has an inspiring story. For the first ten years of his life, Bryan knew no English. He tells us that learning was a challenge for him, but one that he overcame by being around his English-speaking classmates at school. He now speaks both English and Spanish fluently. But what Bryan really likes to talk about–in either language–is his passion for music. “I love music, I love hearing it, and playing it. Ever since my dad gave me a guitar in middle school, I have enjoyed exploring music. I taught myself how to play that guitar. I enjoy that you can create your own type of music and emotional connection.” Bryan tells us, and his excitement is palpable. Bryan’s father was his inspiration for his love of music, and even has a band that both Bryan and his brother take part in. He loves watching his dad perform, and says he can just see all of his struggles melting away as he plays his instruments. “Growing up in Mexico, my dad was the only one in his family who loved music. He learned how to play all those instruments by himself which he has shared with me.” Bryan’s love and pride for his family definitely shines through in everything that he says and does.

Bryan is heading into his third season of marching band, and has loved every second of it. “School music programs teach students so much more than just how to play their instrument. It is kind of a way of life. You become more disciplined and dedicated to the band and music. We are a very large family. It is a great place for students to spend their time. “

As for the future, Bryan hopes to attend college at the University of North Texas to study music education, and one day even dreams of becoming an instructor for the Drum Corps. His current dream of joining the Guardian Drum and Bugle Corps is one that he never imagined he’d be able to afford. “The first thing that I thought about was that I could not do Drum Corps because it’s very expensive. I didn’t have that kind of money nor did my parents. But I really wanted that training and experience, so I asked my high school co-director how much he paid for Drum Corps. He said he didn’t pay for anything! I was stunned! I asked him how is that possible? He explained to me that he found sponsors and collected donations. That gave me a lot of hope.”

Bryan began writing letters and asking for donations, and this is where Riata Ford and YOU come in. We are matching every donation dollar for dollar until Bryan reaches his goal of $2,500. Customer of the Week: Christiana

Christiana Elmer cannot say enough good things about her experience at Truck City Ford. From the moment I meet her, she is absolutely beaming about her time spent with us. Decked out in fashionable leather boots and coat with a bubbly personality to match, she tells me all about why she believes Truck City outshines all other dealerships she’s dealt with in the past.

“They went above and beyond” she says, mentioning that she had been accustomed to rude salesman at other dealerships beforehand. That definitely wasn’t the case at Truck City. From her salesman Sergio to the guys working in parts, Christiana cannot get over how “nice” and “wonderful” every single team member was. She was so thankful for this kindness and helpfulness that she even came back bearing gifts for Sergio’s new baby girl.

Christiana decided to pay us a visit after her husband had a great experience buying his vehicle from Truck City. Now that she’s found us, it definitely doesn’t sound like she’ll be going anywhere else for her Ford-buying in the future!

Thirty-Seven Years of Service

Leif Johnson celebrated David Hall’s thirty-seven years of service with us by throwing him a retirement party; And what would a retirement party be without good friends, great BBQ and delicious cake? We threw in all of the extras to make sure David knew he was appreciated and loved here at Leif Johnson Ford. Mr. Hall notes that he will miss the people and that his coworkers are like family…..Thirty-seven years later, and we definitely consider David a treasured part of our Leif Johnson team and family!

David, congratulations and thank-you for your thirty-seven years with us at Leif Johnson! You will definitely be missed!

Customers as Family

Truck City Salesman Eddie will be the first to tell you that his customers are not just his customers. They are both his friends and his family, and he treats them as such. Today, as I sit a couple of cubicles away, I hear Eddie chatting happily with one of his longtime customers. But instead of talking about truck prices or car sales, he is talking with these customers about the health benefits of kale. This is not at all out of the ordinary for Mr. Haddad. Whether sharing football scores or his favorite foods, Eddie cares more about cultivating relationships with his customers than the sales he is making. Perhaps this is why he is consistently one of the highest ranked salesman at Leif Johnson Ford.

Ronald Ramirez, a customer of Eddie’s since 2007, says he visits not only to update his vehicles, but also just to talk with his buddy Eddie. This is rather apparent by the laughter and long conversation I hear coming from Eddie’s side of the dealership. “I’m like family now.” Ronald tells me, and I’m not at all surprised by this.

Working with Eddie makes it hard not to feel like you’re part of our Leif Johnson family.

Turning a 2014 Ford Explorer into a Lean, Mean, Blue-Matte Finished Machine

Want to know how to take a regular 2014 Explorer and turn it into a lean, mean, blue-matte finished Ford machine? Well, read on!

1. Change out an already impressive radio and added a new audio system from Custom sounds. As fair warning, this system is not for the weak of heart.

2. Add in Customer Alea 3-row interior and clay stitching, courtesy of Austin Auto Interiors. We loved the original seating too, but nothing beats the comfort of this leather interior, y’all. Makes your Monday trip to work enjoyable, even.

3. Build on to this beauty with A Ford Accessory LED Interior Lighting Kit. Because a vehicle this trendy needs to be properly illuminated.

4. Throw in some Veloche Vapor 955 20″ wheel and Nitto NT420S Tires. Now the outside is beginning to match the suaveness of the inside. Be prepared: These wheels are so snazzy that they are sure to turn heads and elicit stares. As if your friends wouldn’t already be jealous enough of this beauty.

Thirty-One Years at Leif Johnson

Darryl Washington is not an easy man to find. Celebrating thirty-one years at our dealership, he has become a jack of all trades at Leif Johnson. “I do everything! I’m all over this place.”, he chuckles, after my coworkers have helped me track this busy guy down. We are sitting in one of the cars he has been working on, and it’s hard not to almost instantly notice Darryl’s sweet smile and great attitude.

Darryl tells me that he started out working in the body shop, then moved to accessories, followed by make-ready and mechanic work. Though his title says he is now a porter, he is still willing to help out with anything and everything thrown his way. When asked what it is that’s kept him at Leif for over thirty years, he immediately gives credit to his managers and the great way they treat their employees. He even recalls going over to one manager’s house years back, and enjoying a glass of ‘cold iced tea.’ It is clear that Darryl is not only an employee with us, but that he has also become family.

Speaking of family–Darryl is the youngest of thirteen siblings, and his childhood home is only miles from Leif’s Central location. He has been married for twenty-six years and has four kids of his own; When he’s not on the clock, he enjoys spending time with his big family and working on more cars.

We couldn’t be more thankful to have Darryl on our team, helping us out for thirty-one years with, as he puts it, “Whatever needs to be done!” It is hard-working, dedicated and positive people like him that makes our Leif Johnson family such an amazing one!
