Customer Highlights

Alvin Canaday is a happy man, and a busy one too. His new Ford Explorer Sport is the fourth vehicle he’s purchased from LJF, and he’s looking forward to all of the family adventures he’ll get to take in his new ride. Two of Canaday’s boys are in college at Texas State.Alvin proudly wears one of his son’s football championship ring. Pictured above is Canady with a few of the family members he adores so much: His son, his wife and his grandson. An amazing father and grandfather, Alvin can’t wait to start making new family memories in that shiny and spacious Ford Explorer of his. Natalie Jenkins is another recent, satisfied customer of ours. A shiny new Mustang is the perfect addition for a savvy businesswoman such as Natalie. Miss Jenkins travels all over Central Texas as an account rep for Seton hospitals and is currently working on obtaining her master’s degree. We admire her motivation and drive! We’re, of course, also admiring that new ‘Stang she’s driving. Leif Johnson Ford is so proud to serve a variety of AMAZING Austinites and …

How to: Drive in Heavy Rain

As most of us are well aware, Texas weather can be a bit moody. One day it’s 75 degrees and sunny, the next day it’s 30 degrees and cloudy. It can go from a sunshiny day in one moment to pouring cats and dogs in the next. When those heavy rains sneak up on us while driving, it can be a little scary. But don’t worry, friends. Leif Johnson Ford is here to give you tips on safe ways to drive in such a downpour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-oZyg-cRtA It may seem obvious, but slow down. This will give you more time to react to slippery roads and limited visibility. The start of the storm can actually be the most dangerous at moisture mixes with oil on the road and makes everything more slippery and dangerous. Be wary of hydroplaning.  Heavy rains eventually wash the oils away, but that’s really when you have to worry about hydroplaning, where your car loses control of the road and almost feels as if it’s floating. If you find that this is happening, try to …

What We’re Thankful For

This Thanksgiving we at Leif Johnson Ford are thankful for so many things. We’re thankful for our families, both our biological ones and the ones we’ve made ourselves out of amazing team members and customers. We’re thankful for food, and especially for the epic potlucks that our employees outdo themselves with each and every year. We’re also so thankful for the opportunity to give back to our fellow Austinities. One of our favorite ways to get back is by participating in Earning by Learning. Each year, our Ford team goes to different elementary schools to listen to kids talk about the books they’ve read. At the end of the year, the kids are rewarded with money for the amount of books completed. It’s such a fun way to inspire kids to read, and we have such an amazing time taking part in this and many other community activities. Last but not least? We’re thankful for YOU! Being your Austin Ford specialist is the greatest honor. Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!

Under the Hood with Barry Beard

As the winter season approaches, it is a good idea to check your vehicle out before it gets too chilly. Our friend and expert service advisor Barry Beard recently gave us some quick but handy tips for what to check under the hood, and we couldn’t wait to share with our Ford family and friends! Everything should be easily marked underneath the hood. There are handles for your transmission fluid; It’s important to remember to always check your transmission fluid while your engine is running, while the car is in neutral and parking brake set. Your oil is also easily marked. You will be able to read the hash marks to check for minimum and max fill. Revert to your owner’s manual for the specific amount of oil your vehicle takes. You’ll also want to make sure your coolant reservoir is always full, or at least in between the lines. From there, top of your windshield wiper fluid. We all know what a pain those pesky Texas bugs can be on your windshield. Last but …

Employee Highlights: Barry Beard

Congrats to Mr. Barry Beard, our current employee of the month at our Truck City Ford location! Watching Barry for only a few minutes, it becomes obvious that he loves both his job and the customers that he works with. His customers love him right back, and he has thus become Ford famous in Buda, Texas for his awesome service skills. We took a few minutes to interview Barry to learn even more about The Beard himself. What is your favorite part about working at Truck City Ford? : The great customers! We have such a great customer base, they turn into family and friends. What have your learned working at TCF? : I’ve learned to believe in myself. If you put your mind to something you can achieve anything. I also had one boss tell me “Build your company inside of this company, and you’ll be successful.” What are your hobbies outside of work?: I don’t have hobbies, I have kids. *Laughs* I have four kids. 13, 7, 4 and 2. (That’ll keep you busy!) I also like …

Tribute to Glenn Seibert

Glenn Seibert, our beloved Part’s manager for 45 years, passed away last week. He will be dearly missed by everyone who knew him. Scott, our current manager in our Part’s department, worked with Glenn for years and recounts some of his best memories from time spent with him. ‘Glenn was known for saying, ”Sometimes we all must eat a slice of humble pie”.  He was known by coworkers for being both a humble and gentle man. There were so many admirable things about Glenn.  One thing that comes to mind is that for the past 10 years, he has taken his children and grandchildren on a cruise each summer. Glenn was instrumental in seeing many reach their potential.’ Dale, another coworker and great friend of Glenn’s, shares more treasured memories. “I started at Leif Johnson in 1982, I have known him since 76 when I first came to Austin. I met him at the Central Texas Parts and Service Club meetings before I came to work at Leif Johnson Ford. I have watched his sons grow up and turn into very …

Employee Highlights

Meet Larry Robinson. He’s our detail manager at Leif Johnson Ford, and is currently celebrating eight years of having worked with us. When asked what his favorite thing is, he smiles and tells us, “There’s a new challenge every day. There’s always something different, it’s never the same.” In his spare time, Mr. Robinson tells us that he loves to play golf, racquetball and basketball. One could say it really takes an eye for detail to skillfully play all of those sports (See what we did there?) It is his great energy, spirit and work ethic that make Larry such a great addition to our team. Meet our make ready crew. These guys help get our Fords spick, span and ready to go. We are so thankful for Vaughn House, a local nonprofit the helps deaf adults with disabilities find jobs, for helping us locate these amazing team members of ours. We know our LJF family would not be the same without their hard work and fantastic personalities. Teamwork is the ability to work together …

Two Years at Leif Johnson Ford

Yesterday I took a shotgun ride in probably the coolest car ever. The 2016 Ford Mustang, California Special Edition. The top was down, the wind was blowing in my hair and Taylor Swift was on the radio. The Mustang makes you feel like summer could go on forever. I’m Christina, the social media representative at Leif Johnson Ford. This means I am the blog writer, the social media updater, employee and customer interviewer and etcetera. It’s a fun gig, but it’s especially fun because of where I work and who I get to work with. I’ve made great friends and taken some great rides. Cruising around in F-150s, Mustangs, Fiestas and every Ford in between has taught me that these rides really are Built Ford Tough. Ford truly focuses on safety, reliability and innovation like no other car company. Did you know they’re working on an Apple watch to pair with and help control your car? Or that they’re developing a spider screen to keep the creepy crawlies out of your vehicle? Or that the 2015 F-150 …

Customer Highlight: Phillip White

Phillip White has just purchased a 2015 Ford F-150, his fourth truck buy from Leif Johnson Ford. It’s not hard to see how satisfied he is with his new beauty. “The design is completely different than the 2014, it’s laid out better, it’s wider. I love the design.”He also loves his dealership of choice. When asked about his experiences at Leif Johnson Ford, he tells us, “They’ve always treated me right. Always. They’ve always worked with me.” Phillip is always a pleasure to work with, and we are honored to have had the chance to get to know him over the years.  He’s been buying from us since 2003, and we couldn’t be happier to have him as one of our longtime, valued customers. Mr. White is a retired veteran, and tells us he has had the chance to travel everywhere. In his spare time, he absolutely loves to bowl. And drive around in that shiny new F-150, of course.
