Earning By Learning Volunteer Breakfast

Our Truck City Ford crew was recently invited to a breakfast for volunteers at Camino Reale Elementary School. We are honored to be longtime volunteers for Earning by Learning, a program that helps kids learn to love reading. By asking a series of questions, our team learns how much the students have read, and from there they are able to earn money for their knowledge. A story shared at the volunteer breakfast about one of these students brought tears to the whole room.   A grandmother of one of the students told us that her granddaughter loved Earning by Learning so much that she has started to emulating the experience at home. This awesome young lady began collecting books and putting them in a wagon. She has started a neighborhood library of sorts, where she lets other children borrow her books. When they return, she asks the questions about the book just as our volunteers do at Earning by Learning. If they answer these questions correctly, she let’s them pick from a collection of toys and candies …

Customer Highlights: Alice and Oscar

Oscar and Alice Nelson are long time customers of Leif Johnson Ford. They’re also great friends of ours. Recently, they bought their third vehicle from our central location. But on Tuesday, this isn’t what they came in for. Instead, they just came in to say hello. “We keep coming back. Leif Johnson Ford takes such great care of us. We stopped by just because we have so many friends here!” As they laughed and talked with our sales team and talked about how much they loved Gordon, our new sales manager, one thing was strikingly clear. When you’re a part of Leif Johnson Ford, you’re a part of a family.

Collision Repair

Today we wanted to give you some handy knowledge on the collision repair process. Chances are, you’re already stressed enough when you’re visiting a collision repair store, so remembering these tips will help the process go as smoothly as possible.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hUTPskiplMA Especially if you have a Ford, it is important to visit a Ford or a Ford recognized collision repair center. This will ensure that you receive the right parts that are designed specifically for your vehicle. Make sure to get a written itemized estimate of all repairs, before allowing any work to be done. If you have any problems with the repair, you have the right to ask that it be redone. Question: Why should you use Ford OEM parts for your vehicle? Answer: When you purchased your new Ford, you bought an original. You can keep it original by ensuring that your insurance company covers using Ford original equipment manufacturer parts. It’s important to use the Ford OEM parts because they’re engineered to your vehicle. This will deliver the intended level of function, look, performance and safety that the Ford …

Leif Johnson Ford with Susan G. Komen

Leif Johnson Ford is fighting for a cause, and we want you to be a part of it! Throughout March, we will be donating $100 to the Susan G. Komen foundation for every F-150, F-250 and F-350 purchased. Here at Leif, we truly care about the community, and hearing the stories that have come with these donations has been incredible. After buying their new truck, one customer told us that their daughter-in-law was a breast cancer survivor. His purchase meant a little more knowing where that $100 of it was going. Then there was Marta Flores. She bought a 2016 F-150 and let us know that she herself was a breast cancer survivor. We are always so humbled by the amazing people who walk through our doors. These inspirational stories from local Austinities are one of the big reasons we love giving back in whatever way we can. Remember- For every F-150, F-250 and F-350 purchased in March, Leif Johnson Ford will donated $100 to breast cancer research!

How to: Drive in Heavy Rain

As most of us are well aware, Texas weather can be a bit moody. One day it’s 75 degrees and sunny, the next day it’s 30 degrees and cloudy. It can go from a sunshiny day in one moment to pouring cats and dogs in the next. When those heavy rains sneak up on us while driving, it can be a little scary. But don’t worry, friends. Leif Johnson Ford is here to give you tips on safe ways to drive in such a downpour. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L-oZyg-cRtA It may seem obvious, but slow down. This will give you more time to react to slippery roads and limited visibility. The start of the storm can actually be the most dangerous at moisture mixes with oil on the road and makes everything more slippery and dangerous. Be wary of hydroplaning.  Heavy rains eventually wash the oils away, but that’s really when you have to worry about hydroplaning, where your car loses control of the road and almost feels as if it’s floating. If you find that this is happening, try to …

Employee Highlight: Keith Anders

Keith Anders has been a service advisor with Leif Johnson Ford for two years now. We are so thankful to have him on our service squad. About different backgrounds, and about how to talk to people and communicate efficiently. What do you like to do when you’re not at work? : I like to spend time with my family. I have an eleven month old daughter and another one on the way. I’ve been married five years. We actually just …

How to Protect Your Vehicle from the Cold

It may be 75 degrees in Austin today, but even in Texas it is bound to get chilly eventually. That’s why we’re here to give you some great tips on how to protect your vehicle from the cold! Read on and be winter ready, y’all! Check your battery. Battery issues are the number one reason for car breakdowns, and cold weather is especially likely to drain your battery life. Check your battery terminals and cables, making sure they’re tight and free from corrosion. Proceed to coat with grease or petroleum jelly to keep deposits from forming. If the battery looks swollen or casing is cracked, take your vehicle to your nearest Leif Johnson Ford service center to be checked right away. Monitor your tires Tire pressure drops considerably as the weather gets colder. This effects your car’s handling and stopping abilities. Check your tire pressure every month, and fill your tires properly with the amount listed on your driver’s side door jam. Check and change your oil. Colder temps cause oil to thicken, impeding its ability to travel …

What We’re Thankful For

This Thanksgiving we at Leif Johnson Ford are thankful for so many things. We’re thankful for our families, both our biological ones and the ones we’ve made ourselves out of amazing team members and customers. We’re thankful for food, and especially for the epic potlucks that our employees outdo themselves with each and every year. We’re also so thankful for the opportunity to give back to our fellow Austinities. One of our favorite ways to get back is by participating in Earning by Learning. Each year, our Ford team goes to different elementary schools to listen to kids talk about the books they’ve read. At the end of the year, the kids are rewarded with money for the amount of books completed. It’s such a fun way to inspire kids to read, and we have such an amazing time taking part in this and many other community activities. Last but not least? We’re thankful for YOU! Being your Austin Ford specialist is the greatest honor. Happy Thanksgiving, y’all!
